Hi! My name is Bernard Riola, but please call me 'UJA' instead. That's what ALL my relatives and my good friends call me. Click here if you want to know how I got the name "UJA." I was born and raised in Kauai, which I KNOW is the best island not only in Hawaii, but in the world. It has the best beaches, scenery, laid back style, rivers, waterfalls. . . Okay, the best way to know what I'm talking about is to see the island. And if you do, give me a call and I'll be happy to give you a 'local' tour of the island. But if you can't, here's some of the best pictures of Kauai's scenery. Click here for some of my favorite photos of Kauai. I went to St. Theresa's School on the west side of Kauai, then graduated from St. Louis High School in Oahu as valedictorian and as part of the State Champion Crusader football team. [Had to put that in to prove that football players AREN'T dumb!] I then went to the University of Notre Dame and graduated in 1999 with a B.S. in pre-medicine, and qualified for the 1999 dean's list.
Here I am at my graduation with three of the most important women of my life. My mom, Aunty Melinda, and Grandma Sally. Currently, I am attending the University of Hawaii working on my master's degree in Nutrition. I am conducting two individual reseach projects, both involving new applications for glycerol. I also work at the Pacific Biomedical Reseach Center, and I will soon start a new job at the Cancer Reseach Center at a Reseach Assistant. I also enjoy volunteering at the Shriner's Hospital for children. My future goal is to become a doctor and work throughout the pacific as a pediatrician. |
